I’m currently a full-time novelist under contract with Eos/HarperCollins. My first novel, an urban fantasy, is slated for an August 2010 release. I also work as a freelance writer/editor for Walter Foster Publishing—there I’m co-authoring a book with artist, Michael Butkus, which is scheduled for release in March 2010.
In a previous life, I was the editor of Victorian Homes magazine, founding editor of Cottages & Bungalows magazine, and contributing editor of Romantic Homes magazine, and as such, I wrote for a combined circulation of approximately 250,000.
With 20 years experience in publishing, I’ve worked for a variety of publishing/broadcasting companies that include Focus on the Family, The Word For Today, and PJS Publications (now Primedia). Besides editing and writing, my background includes print buying, writing/producing radio promos, directing photo shoots, developing new products, writing jacket copy for books, creating sales media packets, and organizing direct mail campaigns. In 1996, I sold 4 books to Thomas Nelson, which I wrote, designed and illustrated.
Born in the Midwest, I currently live in Southern California with my husband, a Siamese cat, two German shepherds, and the occasional wandering possum. My favorite hobbies are reading speculative fiction and watching old Star Trek episodes, and my incurable addiction is writing. I love to camp in the mountains, walk on the beach, watch old movies, listen to alternative music—although rarely all at the same time.
